Company E Captain Clark E. Royce joined the regiment on September 20, 1863, as lieutenant
colonel. Moved from Philadelphia to Fort Monroe, Va., October 14; and then to Yorktown, Va.

January, 1864. Second Brigade, United States Forces, Yorktown, Va., Eighteenth Corps, Department
of Virginia and North Carolina, to April, 1864. Second Brigade, Hincks' Colored Division, Eighteenth

Corps, to March, 1865. Royce left the regiment on January 1, 1865, to become colonel of the 29th

of North Carolina to September, 1865. Regiment lost during service 8 Officers and 79 Enlisted men
